MARHC Outreach Coordinator Update

As many of you know, MARHC’s new Outreach Coordinator, Sarah Schlemeier, has been traveling the state meeting with member and non-member clinics. Sarah has met with representatives from 48 clinics so far this year. She has spent the majority of her time in clinics on the eastern side of the state and is making her way west. For members, Sarah acts as the association’s liaison. Her goal is to put a face with the association and help clinics and hospitals feel comfortable reaching out to MARHC with any questions or concerns. Welcome New MARHC Members

MARHC is excited to announce that we have welcomed six new clinics to the association this year. Our newest members are: Cardinal Glennon Haven Health Care Clinic Jefferson Medical Group Managed Care, Inc. Ozark OB-Gyn Randolph County Health Department We look forward to working with these clinics, and all members, as MARHC continues to advocate for the needs of rural health clinics in state government and facilitate educational and professional development opportunities for clinics. CMS Billing Changes Are Coming April 1. Are You Ready?

As of April 1, CMS' changes to rural health billing will go into effect. One of these changes will be a modified definition of a face-to-face visit. These changes could significantly impact your clinics' total encounters. Don't miss out on learning the new billing guidelines- make plans to attend the MARHC Spring Billing Conference on March 29, 2016 in Jefferson City. Board Wisdom: Rules – Written or Unwritten?

All of us have policies and procedures that we use and work from in our offices. These guide the actions that need to be taken or decisions that need to be made throughout any given day. These can change when the “powers that be” decide that they need to be changed. Changes can be good or bad – depending on the view. Policies can be changed frequently or quickly, and sometimes it practically takes an “Act of Congress” to make changes. These are written rules and there are a lot of them. People can interpret these written rules to be different than their original intent or to be more or less inclusive on the topic at hand. Everything in life is left up to someone’s interpretation!
