MORx Assistance Ends June 30 for Medicare-Only Patients

Eligibility requirements will change at the end of June for the MORx program, which pays for 50% of eligible low-income seniors' out-of-pocket costs for medications covered by Medicare Part D.

As of June 30, MORx members only covered by Medicare will no longer be eligible for the program. Individuals receiving Medicaid and Medicare (dually-eligible members) will continue to be covered by MORx. This change is expected to impact approximately 60,000 seniors.

Individuals with questions can contact the MORx hotline at 1-800-375-1406. Mo HealthNet's handout on the upcoming change is available here. The department also sent affected seniors a list of possible resources, including:

  • MO Healthnet (Medicaid): For eligibility information, call the Family Support Division at 1-855-373-4636

  • The Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA): The PPA helps the uninsured and under-insured get prescription medications from existing patient assistance programs. Call PPA at 1-888-477-2669.

  • Rx Outreach: Rx Outreach is a non-profit mail order pharmacy that provides affordable medications for people in need. For more details, call 1-800-769-3880.

  • Community Leaders Assisting the Insured of Missouri (CLAIM): To see if you qualify for a Medicare savings program, speak with a CLAIMs counselor at 1-800-390-3330

  • Area Agencies on Aging (AAA): Missouri has ten AAA that offer assistance. For more information, call AAA at 1-800-677-1116. You can also speak with a local senior center about how to receive guidance and assistance from AAA.
