HCPCS Code Update for Preventative Services

CMS has released an update that CPT code 76706 will replace HCPCS code G0389 for dates of service on or after January 1, 2017. Section 5112 of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 allows for only one ultrasound screening test for an abdominal aortic aneurysm by Medicare. CPT code 76706 will replace HCPCS code G0389 for billing this service.

MACs will apply all editing that was applied to HCPCS code G0389 to CPT code 76706, including the waiver of deductible and coinsurance. You can read the official instructions to MACs here.
