DSS Begins Perinatal Care Management Pilot

The Missouri Department of Social Services recently announced the creation of the Missouri Perinatal Health Management Pilot Program, which is designed to increase the number of healthy pregnancies among Medicaid patients.

This project will be a partnership between Alpha Maxx HealthCare, MO HealthNet, and Pemiscot County Hospital. The program will provide care coordination and care management services to high-risk pregnant women and newborns. DSS expects the pilot to decrease premature births and infant mortality and reduce the costs of NICU/PICU care.

The program will be piloted in Pemiscot, Dunklin, New Madrid, Cape Girardeau, Mississippi, Scott, Stoddard and Butler counties.
