Member Spotlight: Michelle Casey

Michelle Casey just can’t get enough of rural health. In addition to working as the Director of Clinic Operations for four RHCs and four Provider-Based Clinics and Patient Financial Services at Nevada Regional Medical Center, she serves as President of MARHC’s Board.

In her current position with Nevada Regional Medical Center, Michelle oversees the financials of eight clinics, the hospital’s business office, admissions, and central scheduling. She sums up her average workday in one word – “chaos!” Her career in rural health began 13 years ago when she started working in the business office and “grew to love the constant change and ability to be challenged in healthcare.”

Michelle sees reimbursement and government regulations as the greatest challenges facing her clinics. The impact of state policies on RHCs is one of the reasons Michelle is involved in MARHC. She believes one of the association’s most important roles is serving as the voice for RHCs in the Missouri Capitol. “It is so important,” she said “for legislators to hear and know RHCs are important.”

Michelle is proudest of her clinics for both doing great work caring for patients and helping them access the resources they need. She says the best parts of her job are mentoring employees and “helping patients be able to get the help they need.”
